CarGo - Level Design & Level Art Direction | Player Garage Station (Base & Late-Game Upgrade)

This case covers reworks of the garage exterior and surrounding environment polish, plus an upgraded late-game variant of the same location.
My goal for this location was to push realism and believability: I adjusted the garage structure, proportions, and silhouette, added Wasteland-specific elements to make the place feel worn but lived-in, and introduced props that would naturally belong in this space. I also refined the surroundings with a biome and landscape pass to better support the scene.
I started with reference gathering and an overpaint of the existing location, defining clear goals before production. After reviews with the team, we aligned on the key improvements and focused the work around them.
For the upgraded late-game variant, I created a dedicated blockout to communicate player progression. I used different building types tied to specific functions and upgrade tiers, while keeping the same mood, scale, and overall readability.
